This map illustrates the dramatic increase in vacant homes in Japan's rural areas over a 15-year period. Bold shades of red against a stark white background bring a sense of alertness to the magnitude of the housing shifts. I developed the map in ArcGIS Pro and Adobe Illustrator. It served as my choropleth map project for an Introduction to Cartography course at the University of Wisconsin–Madison.
